TURMERIC BLEND

What is Turmeric?

The wondrous root known as Turmeric is a part of the ginger family. One of the great features of turmeric is that only a portion of the root is harvested and cultivated into a powder. Turmeric has been used for thousands of years in East India and the Middle East for both culinary and medicinal purposes, and is one of the most highly prized spices in the world.

From where is Healing Butterfly Turmeric sourced?

Healing Butterfly turmeric is 100 percent sourced from an organic farm in India.

Why do you include Black Pepper in your Turmeric blends?

Unfortunately, curcumin, an extract of turmeric, is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream by itself. It helps to consume black pepper with it, which contains piperine — a natural alkaloid that enhances the absorption of curcumin by up to 2,000 percent.

What is astragalus?

Astragalus, sometimes called milk vetch or huang qi, comes from a type of legume.  Astragalus is an herb.

What are the health benefits of Astragalus?

There has been evidence that astragalus stimulates the immune system.  It also has antioxidant properties. Astragalus is considered an adaptogen, which can help the body balance the long-term effects of stress. Astragalus can improve the body’s response to viral infections. It is also known to help with respiratory infections, stimulate the spleen and liver, improve circulation and provide emotional balance.

What are the health benefits of Turmeric?

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.

  • Curcumin helps to combat low-level chronic inflammation, which is a symptom of most diseases.
  • Curcumin is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals due to its chemical structure. In addition, curcumin boosts the activity of your body’s own antioxidant enzymes. Thus, curcumin delivers an antioxidant one-two punch against free radicals. It blocks them directly, then stimulates your body’s own antioxidant defenses.

In a number of studies, curcumin was shown to be an effective antidepressant — leading to emotional balance and well-being. This is essential to managing the stress of modern life.
Curcumin has been used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It is nontoxic and has a number of therapeutic benefits, including analgesic, antiseptic, and anticarcinogenic properties.

More extensive information on the beneficial properties of turmeric can be found in this published journal article.
